TRAINING PROGRAM & CLASSES

The Vocal Arts Institute offers classes suited for all ages and levels, including Beg./Int./Adv. Semester Enrollment, Class A La Carte, and The Young Professional Studio Package.  See below for further details!

THE VOCAL STUDIO:

When signing up for The Vocal Studio, there are two options.  You can either sign up for the entire semester (Semester Enrollment) or you can sign up for single sessions (Class A La Carte).  Both enrollment options are explained in further detail below:

Option #1: Semester Enrollment:

  • The Vocal Studio runs on a trimester: Fall (Sept.-Dec.), Spring (Jan.-May), & Summer (June-Aug.)

  • Enrolling by the semester is by far the best "value" - this package includes three private lessons/month + one Studio Class/month. Studio Class is the final class of each month (two hours-long) that provides students the opportunity to perform in front of their peers with a live accompanist. This teaches students performance skills, auditioning skills, how to speak to an accompanist, etc. Students observe the performances of their peers, and receive constructive feedback from master instructor Jennifer Randall. Occasionally other experts will be brought in to provide feedback. This class is very beneficial to a young artist’s learning and growth. (Further information about Studio Class can be found in the section below.)

  • An assessment lesson is recommended before signing up ($75.00 fee-45 minutes)

  • The following are the three different options of classes offered for semester enrollment:

    • Beginner - $225.00/month - for students up to age 10 only; placement recommended by vocal instructor

      • Three 30-minute one-one-one sessions a month with private vocal instructor

      • One Studio Class at the end of the month - beginner student will watch/perform within the first 30 to 60 minutes of Studio Class, and is then released

    • Intermediate - $255.00/month - for students ages 10+ who want to further their vocal/acting studies

      • Three 45-minute one-on-one sessions a month with private vocal instructor

      • One two-hour Studio Class at the end of the month - student required to perform at least once a semester in the Studio Class

      • Concert performance opportunities at the end of the fall and spring semesters

    • Advanced - $275.00/month - for the serious vocalist who hopes to pursue music in college or as a professional performer

      • Three 60-minute one-on-one sessions a month with private vocal instructor

      • One two-hour Studio Class at the end of the month - student required to perform at least once a semester in the Studio Class

      • Concert performance opportunities at the end of the fall and spring semesters

Option #2 - Class A La Carte:

  • There are limited calendar openings for class a la carte - these single sessions are available upon advance request

  • Provides students with the opportunity to take a drop-in class

  • Can be beneficial for those who may want to brush-up their vocal/acting technique prior to an upcoming audition

  • The following are two different options of a la carte classes:

    • Beginner/Intermediate - $75.00/lesson - for students up to high school age

      • Single 45-minute vocal/acting lesson

    • Advanced/Young Professional - $90.00/lesson - for students of high school age and older

      • Single 1 hour vocal/acting lesson

What is Studio Class?

The Vocal Arts Institute is fortunate to offer students a special Studio Class once per month (final class of each month - 2 hours long) in addition to students' weekly vocal lessons.  Studio Class is designed to provide students with the opportunity to enhance their vocal and performance development.  Students have the opportunity to perform in front of their peers with a live accompanist.  This teaches students performance skills, auditioning skills, how to speak to an accompanist, etc.  Students observe the performances of their peers, and receive constructive feedback from vocal instructor.  This class is very beneficial to a young artist's learning and growth.

TVAI Studio Class:

  • Helps students feel more confident and comfortable performing in front of an audience

  • Prepares students for future audition protocols (i.e. Working with an accompanist, setting tempo, introducing yourself and your song, presenting yourself in a professional manner, etc.)

  • Teaches students the importance of sufficient preparation both vocally and organizationally

  • Gives students the chance to listen to and learn from their peers

  • Refines both vocal and performance technique

  • Diagnoses vocal and performance weaknesses and designs a specific study for improvement

THE YOUNG PROFESSIONAL STUDIO:

  • The Young Professional Package - $270.00/month - for students college age and older who want to continue their vocal and acting training

    • Three 60-minute one-one-one sessions a month with private vocal instructor

    • The Young Professional Studio runs on a trimester: fall (Sept.-Dec.), spring (Jan.-May), & summer (June-Aug.)

    • Enrollment is by the semester. There is no Studio Class (see above section) for this package.
